career aspirations

we just had to write up our "individual development plan" for the year. is it ok to say, i don't have any career aspirations? as i am here longer, the desire to move up higher in the chain diminishes. moving up higher just means more time committment. is it so wrong to not want to be chained to my job?? i know that eventually i'll want to have a family, i would prefer spending time with my family rather than working. i'm fine with where i am now, i think my income is good enough.

my officemate recently got some more responsibilites AND she just had a baby, so basically she takes her son to daycare around 10. comes to work. leaves work at 5 to pick her son up. and then at night she logs back in to work more. i think that's just the nature of software engineering jobs, you end up having to spend a lot of your "free" time working. luckily, i have been able to get by without having to work at nights, which has been nice, which is the way i want to keep it. i think eventually i'll have to come up with a new "career", especially if i want to stay at home more. hmm.

i think it would be a really good idea to open up an inexpensive cute chic nail salon in the south bay, there are a ton in SF, but not really any down here. all the cute salons down here are expensive and all the cheap places are vietnamese places which don't look so nice. they have nice cute ones in SF where a manicure and pedicure are $40-$50. whities are soooo obsessed with having nice nails, i think i need to capitalize on that. that's my new idea for the day. it would be tough to get all the financing if i wanted to open my business though, i would need some partners, any takers? =)
