i finallllly got my hair cut, i was thinking that i could just grow it out as long as possible until september, but i couldn't stand it. i was feeling like my hair was overwhelming me. the last time i cut it, i had it all cut to the same length, so it was starting to look scary. even though it LOOKS like i don't have much hair, having it all at the same length and very long, just doesn't look good on me and is very heavy, in my opinion anyways.
so i finally took a leap and got it cut and colored. the stylist kept on saying, your hair is sooooo long. your hair is soooooo long. and you only want to cut it two inches?? are you sure?? he kept on saying it, argh. i kept on thinking to myself, dude, my hair isn't even as long as sharon's or pearl's, now THAT is long, not mine! and THEN when he was blow drying it, he kept on saying, your hair is soooooo straight. i'm trying to put a little curl to it at the ends, but it's soooo straight. i was like, yeah, i get it, thanks. the hair cut was really good though, and it's layered, so i don't feel like a scary hairy monster now. even just cutting two inches, it seems a lot lighter, it's sooo much better. ahh, i'm so glad i got it cut =P

hmmm
i guess i don't really have anything important to say, last week i was sick (again!), i wonder if it's from my officemate, it seems she is always sick from her son, and it seems like i haven't been able to fight off those germs. but i think i'm finally back to normal again.
on sat i had class and i had a test, i totallly didn't feel like studying fri night. after class, julian and i went up to SF cause some of his friends from LA were visiting. we all stayed at his friend's place in SF, it was quite interesting. i haven't been to a "sleepover" in a while. we mostly hung out, 2 other people (not including me) were also sick, so we kept it pretty low-key. we played "dirty" charades, which was actually kinda amusing. each team thought up some "dirty" phrases (i.e. orgasm, porn, lap dance, etc etc) that the other team had to act out. the first round was kinda tame, the second round, people were trying to think of really gross stuff to do. i think everyone was just amused to see people acting it out. i learned many new terms that night =P

so strange
it's so strange not being able to check any of my work email, even though i'm physically here at work. numerous people have asked "did you see my email?" and i'll sheepishly have to say, no, my hard drive crashed, so i'm borrowing someone else's computer and have not figured out how to get stupid lotus notes to work. lotus notes sucks, hopefully none of you guys will ever have to use it for your work email, it's a pain in the butt.
anyways, so basically all i can do is use exceed and login to our servers, which is fine, i can still work. and i can login to the internal ibm chat, so people can still find me. but i can't access my work email and i have to use gimpy icq2go. icq2go sucks, it doesn't flash any messages on the screen, so if someone replies or sends me a message, i'll only see it if i check the window.
on sunday i made my first venture into being artsy craftsy and bought a paper cutter from michael's. it's not one of those ones that we had in school or at work with that huge chopping arm, it's a cool one that i guess is used for scrapbooking or something. so last night instead of diligently working on my homework or working out, i was working on our invitations! i'm just sprucing them up so that they look nice, i guess i shouldn't ruin the surprise and describe what i'm doing. you guys will just have to wait and see what they look like when i send them out =P but it involves a paper cutter hehe, and if i do say so myself, they are looking very nice so far! =)

hard drive went byebye
the hard drive on my work laptop went kaput today, it started making loud clicking sounds, and i had the blue screen of death twice. luckily in between those blue screen of deaths, i was able to back up my files, so that was good. but now i can't even boot up windows. they ordered me a new hard drive which should come in 1-2 days, so now i'm borrowing someone's extra laptop. sigh. too bad i couldn't just sit around, but i guess i would be bored without my internet!! =P

ever since it got so much buzz from the critics, i was interested in seeing this movie. the movie was sooo boring. maybe it's because i'm not into wine, but i really have no idea why people liked it, except for the fact that it is about wine. what did everyone else think?? it's like...a movie that an old person would like i think =)

dry skin patches?
a couple of months ago, i used to just have one dry skin patch on my lower back, now it seems like it's spread to my whole lower back!! i guess i should stop scratching it, and start putting hecka lotion on it or something. it sorta looks really gross. they're just darker skin blotches but it doesn't look good. so hopefully they'll be gone before miami so no one will be subjected to seeing gross dry patches =)
does anyone have some suggestions on what i can do to get rid of it?? i really hope that it does go away soon. i have to remember not to touch it or scratch it!!

magazine subscriptions
waah, i renewed my magazine subscription to us weekly too late so it won't start again until mid-may!! =( now to get my celebrity gossip fix i have to read it in the grocery store while we're shopping, how sad!
i also finally renewed my lucky magazine, i didn't even realize until a couple of months later that i wasn't getting any new issues! i must have been so busy during the first couple of months of this year to totally forget about my magazine subscriptions!!!

another home
Today was the day that we were supposed to turn in our deposit to Siena. Did you notice how I said "supposed to"?? Yup, we have decided to give it up! =( =( =( After doing a lot of number crunching, even though we could afford the Siena place, we would not be saving a lot of money after paying the mortgage, hoa, taxes, etc and the place just seemed way too overpriced. so we decided to forgo it even though we liked the floorplan a lot.
However, there's more! Sooooo, my dad tells me my uncle is moving back to taiwan and is going to sell his townhouse, do you want to go take a look? I've only been there once, and I didn't really remember it, but I didn't have that great of an impression of it (and it was a long time ago) so I was sort of reluctant to go, but supposedly my uncle would give me a good deal if we decided we wanted it, so i was like, ok fine, i guess we can go take a look. it's near the 880 and Brokaw Rd exit, it's actually better than i remembered =P it's 4bdrm 3 bath, all the names of the streets are like chinese names (taipei rd, hong kong rd, tainan rd, etc) the street he lives on is chihong rd! so ... fobby. anyways, it's like a typical townhouse, small narrow streets, it's about 10 yrs old, but my uncle took pretty good care of it. so it looks like we're going to get it, my uncle is going to give it to us for $580k!! for 4 bdrm! i think he's totally underselling it, but i think both my dad and uncle are both pretty clueless as to how crazy the housing market is in the bay area is, so if that's the price they settled on, that's totally fine with me! we're saving over $100k AND we're getting an extra bedroom!! woo! so even though it's not as nice as siena, i think it's good for our starter home. With this townhome, we'll be able to save up more money for our next home =)
some pros:
-it's in a quiet neighborhood (not like siena which is basically just plopped into a business section)
-we'll probably be moving in before/near/during our wedding (for siena we would have to wait til early 2006)
-HOA is half of siena's
-the cost of the townhouse is waaaaaay cheaper than siena
-has 2 car garage & fireplace
-do not have to buy any appliances! for siena we would have had to buy new fridge, washer & dryer
-if we want to keep any of my uncle's furniture, we can take it! i think mostly we'll be keeping all the beds he has in the other bedrooms, so we'll have sooo much room for guests!
-really close to some asian plazas
-there's a small backyard, so i'm thinking of maybe getting a dog after the wedding! we'll see though
some cons:
-no walkin closet, but there is enough closet space in the master bedroom so that's ok.
-the only thing that i don't like so much is that the master bathroom is not so good (i'm hoping maybe we can remodel the bathroom or something before we move in so it's nicer, but it's a little small so i don't know if we would be able to make the modifications i want =P)
-i guess that's it! well i guess i could add one more, we won't be as close to shal & nancy anymore =P hehe
i guess it is sort of a relief to have found a cheaper option. i knew that if we got siena, i would have to change my spending habits, which would have been really really hard for me i think. it's not that i couldn't do it, it's just that i wouldn't be happy having to do it. the only sucky thing is that the house purchase will be coinciding around the same time as our wedding & honeymoon, so that would be looooots of money flying out the door at the same time, it will be very very depressing to see all of our hard earned money being depleted from our accounts.

bleh
i can feel the effects of my lingering headache wanting to creep back so it can cause me pain.
apparently i have caught a slight cold, so last night i went to bed with a slight headache. at 4am i woke up with a RAGING headache, so i dragged myself to the kitchen to get a tylenol. when i woke up this morning the headache had subsided but i could still feel it, so i took another tylenol. now that it's 1:30pm, i can feel it trying to come back, i wish i had some tylenol!
i wonder if it is because i'm sick. i've been so busy at work that i've had to drag my sick butt to work. it sucks, having no desire to work because you're sick and having so much work that it's overwhelming. i think i need a day or two to recover but i've had too much stress at work that i haven't been able to do that. and it does not help that i have 2 hours of really really boring class tues and thurs.
i can't wait til this weekend! i just need to survive 1.5 days! ok, back to work!

why can't we all just get along?
yesterday on Entertainment Tonight, they were showing a Vanity Fair photo shoot with the Desperate Housewives stars. apparently ABC had stipulated 2 requirements to have the photo shoot run smoothly -- 1) don't let teri hatcher go into wardrobe first (apparently she always arrives early and picks the best clothes) 2) don't have teri hatcher in the middle of the pictures. vanity fair didn't follow any of those stipulations and the photo shoot was filled with drama, with marcia cross (red head) swearing and making a scene, and teri hatcher leaving the shoot in tears. it seems her costars are mad that teri hatcher is supposedly the "star" even though it is all their roles that have contributed to the sucess of the show.
this seems to be the same sort of thing with sex and the city and kim cattrall/sarah jessica parker. it seems like shows with all female casts always have cat fights and never seem to all get along.
i don't think it's just hollywood, i think it also applies to any group of girls in general. why is it that if you spend too much time with a bunch of girls, it all ends up becoming petty and jealous? i think girls are just too competitive in trying to look good and be better than the people they are surrounded with, i guess it's just their nature. good thing we all don't hang around too much with each other ;) i wonder if sororities are drama-filled as well!

new townhouse
yesterday i went to a lottery for Siena at Saratoga, some new townhouses near Westgate. We got one! I picked the Veneto, it has all the things that I like: 3 bedrooms, two car carage, fireplace, large bathtub, dual sinks, large walkin closet in the master bedroom, and it looks like it has a kitchen island! it's very expensive though, ugh. this is actually the only place we've been looking at, we have not been trying very hard to find a house. all the stories about bidding wars and how hard it is to find a decent home at a decent price has scared me. seriously, i think people in the bay area have waaaay too much money. i need to figure out a way to get some too!
this was actually the 3rd lottery i've been too for siena, the previous two we were not lucky enough to get one, 3rd times the charm i guess! when we first submitted our application, the veneto was at $660k. when we went to our first lottery, the price went up $30k to $690k!! the second lottery it went up to $700k. each lottery had about 30 people and they released 8 units. they usually have a release every month. after the 2nd release, we were pretty discouraged and were going to give up on siena, especially since the price keeps on increasing and the chances didn't seem so great! if we kept on trying, it would eventually get out of our price range. so this last lottery was going to be our last attempt. and as luck may have it, my name was the first one called!!!! so i got first choice out of all the units being released!
so some pros: it'll be completely new, it's walking distance to lots of things, it has a lot of nice features, don't have to get in bidding wars
some cons: it's not really in a neighborhood, won't be able to move in for a year since they are still building it, it's expensive!!
